We warmly welcome all our guests to the auspicious occasion of the Sikh wedding ceremony, known as Anand Karaj.
In order to ensure the utmost respect and understanding of Sikh marriage rituals, we kindly request everyone to adhere to the following Gurdwara etiquette:
Heads covered in the Langar Hall and Darbar
Head scarves will be provided at the entrance, but guests are also welcome to wear their own.
Shoes removed in the Langar Hall and Darbar
Shoe racks will be available near the bathrooms on the ground floor.
Appropriate attire
Please refrain from wearing short skirts, caps, or hats in the Gurdwara.
Avoid chit-chat in the Darbar and during the ceremony
To maintain a serene environment, please refrain from engaging in unnecessary conversations or distractions during the ceremony. There will be plenty of time to catch-up later in the day.
No smoking or carrying tobacco on Gurdwara grounds
Smoking is strictly prohibited on the premises. Please do not carry tobacco in your pockets while attending the wedding ceremony.
Receiving Karah Parshaad
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Karah Parshaad (a sweet pudding made of wheat flour, ghee, sugar, and water) will be distributed. If you would like to partake in this sacred offering, please cup both hands together to receive it.
We hope that this brief guide to Gurdwara etiquette helps everyone understand and respect the Sikh marriage rituals. Thank you for joining us on this joyous occasion, and we look forward to sharing this blissful union with our loved ones.
